Nine Realms and the Stones of Fate
A downloadable game
Nine Realms and the Stones of Fate is a solitaire rpg and journaling game based on the Old Gods, mythological creatures, giants, sorcery, and magick found within the nine realms of Norse Mythology. This game can be played as a traditional rpg with imaginative fantasy themes and imagery, or used interchangeably as a personal guide for self-exploration, Norse divination, rune magick, and metaphysical exploration. Players may skip the character creation phase all together and put themselves headfirst into a world full of ancient sorcery and magick by using one of the oldest forms of the runic alphabet, the Elder Futhark.
The player’s overall objective here in the nine realms is to seek, quest, and discover the stones of fate. In this core rulebook you will find several different gameplay variants for extended play, group play, all necessary tables needed to play the game, a simple (2d6) oracle system, as well as an optional combat variant depending on your personal motives and intentions of your quest and exploration here in the nine realms.
This game can also be used as a tool to better learn and study the true meanings of the runes, just as much as it can be used as a creation tool for players and GMs alike to create system agnostic locations, settings, spells, items, artifacts, and unique characters for other traditional non-divination based rpg games. The list of gameplay variants at the end of the core rulebook are there to help the player better tune and craft whatever type of exploration they may be looking for. Follow this page and be on the lookout for future adventure modules that will offer even more replayability, quests, creatures, and unique bosses to alter/add/expand to the rules found here in the core rulebook. Let the stones of fate guide you.
Below is a list of what you will need to play and begin your exploration here.
- Daily Journal (Notebook, sheet of paper, notecard, player sheet)
- An assortment of dice (2d6, 1d8, 2d12)
- Rune stones (Optional) these may be used interchangeably with the dice system and various tables included
- Player/Table sheets can be downloaded from the link at the back of the book. These are not mandatory as they’re also included here, but the larger format will potentially make referencing the tables easier and more accessible.
Disclaimer: Due to the overall potential of occult subject matter to follow, it is important to note that this is a game of metaphysical exploration. It is recommended that the player is mature, of age, and somewhat familiar with the subjects and potential dangers associated with the runes, magick, and the occult. Depending on your beliefs and intentions here, it is possible that your exploration may require protection from unseen forces. It is recommended that the player is in a mentally safe and sound headspace and/or physical location when beginning your exploration here. If you need mental or physical help and/or are experiencing a mental health emergency in any way, shape, or form, please seek professional medical assistance immediately.
